| An Associates Degree is an academic degree awarded by community colleges, junior colleges and some bachelor's degree-granting colleges and universities upon completion of a course of study usually lasting two years. Common abbreviations are AA (Associate of Arts), AS (Associate of Science), AAS (Associate of Applied Science; or in some cases, Associate of Arts and Sciences), AOS (Associate of Occupational Studies), ABA (Associate of Business Administration), AAT (Associate of Arts in Teaching), and AGS (Associate of General Studies).
In the United States, an Associates Degree is equivalent to the first two years of a four-year college or university. It is the lowest in the hierarchy of postsecondary academic degrees offered. View schools offering Associate's Degrees |
| The Bachelors Degree (Artium Baccalaureus, A.B. or B.A.) is usually an undergraduate academic degree awarded for a course or major that, in the U.S., typically requires four years of full-time study, although some universities and colleges allow ambitious students to complete it in less time. Today, the most common undergraduate degrees given are the Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Science. View schools offering Bachelor's Degrees |
| The Masters Degree is an academic degree usually awarded for completion of a postgraduate (or graduate) course of one to three years in duration. The Master of Arts (Magister Artium) and Master of Science (Magister Scientiæ) degrees are the basic degree types in most subjects, and may be either entirely course-based or entirely research-based, or (more typically) a mixture. Admission to a master's program normally requires holding a bachelor's degree, and progressing to a doctoral program usually requires a master's degree. One of the most popular master's degree programs is the MBA - Master of Business Administration. View schools offering Master's Degrees |
| A Doctorate (PhD) is an academic degree of the highest level. There are three types of doctorates: research or terminal, professional, and honorary. In most cases, the prerequisite for a Doctoral Degree is a Masters Degree, especially in the United States. View schools offering Doctoral Degrees |
| A professional certification, trade certification, or professional designation often called simply certification or qualification is a designation earned by a person to certify that he is qualified to perform a job. Certification indicates that the individual has a specific set of knowledge, skills, or abilities in the view of the certifying body. Professional certifications are awarded by professional bodies and corporations. The difference between licensure and certification is licensure is required by law, whereas certification is generally voluntary. Sometimes the word certification is used for licensure.
