Specialized or advanced education or training in music is available at music schools and colleges, either online or campus based, and, when combined with your talent and creativity, will provide a strong foundation for you to succeed in this career field. Music has the unique ability to transcend political, cultural and philosophical barriers and communicate in its own universal language. The spectrum of music training is vast and can range from simple study-at-home courses, to formal music education in college. Music is composed and performed for many purposes, ranging from aesthetic pleasure, religious or ceremonial purposes, or as an entertainment product for the marketplace. Amateur musicians compose and perform music for their own pleasure, and they do not attempt to derive their income from music. Professional musicians are employed by a range of institutions and organizations, including armed forces, churches and synagogues, symphony orchestras, broadcasting or film production companies, and music schools.
